As summer draws to a close,

restaurants and hoteliers are ready
for a new season of style – and
we’ve even left room to suggest
ideas for a designer vacation.
On FIFTH AVENUE, Ted Baker opened
his flagship at 595. The first MassimoDutti store to hit the States has bowed
at 54th Street. Longchamp has debuted
its Rockefeller Center shop at 610. Saks Fifth Avenue (611) expanded its
shoe department by 10,000 square feet.
Canada’s Aritzia’s largest location in the world will be at 600.
On MADISON AVENUE, footwear
giant Schutz’s first freestanding store
outside Brazil came to 655 in time for
Fashion’s Night Out on September 6.
Phoenix Roze’s jewels will shine bright
at 994. Yigal Azrouël is leaving
the Meatpacking District for 1011. Mariana Antinori will make her New
York City debut at 1242. Rag & Bone opened at 909. Anya Hindmarch is
coming to 795. Kate Spade will finally
arrive on the Upper East Side, at 789. Caramel Baby & Child will have its first
U.S. store at 1244. Brian Atwood begins
his global expansion at 655. Canali will debut a flagship at 625.
Joe Fresh’s pop-up at 1055 Madison
Avenue has signed a permanent lease. Fabergé ’s jewel of a store debuted
at 684. Michael Kors Lifestyle highlights
accessories at 667. Fendi took the
former Montblanc space at 598. Montblanc will open at 625, the former
Baccarat space, as Baccarat moves to
635. Oscar de la Renta will double the
size of its flagship at 772. Lanvin will
debut a men’s-only shop at 815. Proenza Schouler opened at 822. Ristorante Morini will replace Centolire
On the UPPER EAST SIDE, Spanish
ballet flat brand Pretty Ballerinas is
located at 26 E. 67th Street. Superdry opens its fourth Manhattan unit at 716
Lexington Avenue. The Fitness CellCollective keeps us in shape at 328 East
61st Street. Eau Spa by Cornelia has
returned to the city at The Surrey Hotel,
20 East 76th Street. Essie has opened a
flagship salon at 35 East 65th Street.
Find Zadig & Voltaire inside the Mark Hotel at 25 East 77th Street. Christian Liaigre’s showroom at
34 East 61st Street offers amazing
furnishings. Parisian bakery MaisonKayser has arrived at 1294 Third Ave.
The Dream Downtown Hotel (355 West
16th Street) will replace Romera with
a Japanese restaurant.
On the UPPER WEST SIDE, IT’S SUGAR opened at 1880 Broadway, aka 15
Central Park West, between 61st and
62nd Streets. H&M will open at Time
Warner Center. Casa Pomona will
offer tapas at 507 Columbus Avenue.
In MIDTOWN, Nordstrom will finally
establish a New York City flagship at 225
West 57th Street – in 2018. NordstromRack also plans a unit at 1095 Avenue
of the Americas. Mackenzie-Childs is
relocating uptown to 20 West 57th
Street. Menswear specialist Onassis is opening a second store in the city
at 61 West 49th Street. Bobbi Brown is making commuters more beautiful
at Grand Central Terminal, while others
enjoy a full day of pampering at the new Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa at the Chatwal Hotel (130 West
44th Street). Express will replace
T.G.I. Friday’s at 1552 Broadway
in a huge new flagship. LOFT’s first
concept store debuted at 1230 Avenue
of the Americas. Num Pang will bring
its Cambodian sandwiches to 1129
Broadway. Nobu managing partner
Richie Notar will open a seafood-heavy
concept at The Lombardy Hotel (111 East 56th Street). Vegan café Blossom Du Jour will have an outpost
at 617 Ninth Avenue. 99 Miles to Philly will open a second location for its
cheesesteak sandwiches at 93 Third
Avenue in September. Socarrat East,
a third offering from Socarrat Paella Bar,
has debuted at 953 Second Avenue.
Brooklyn cheesecake legend Junior’s is opening a restaurant at 919 Third
Avenue. The Gerber Group plans a new
concept at the Westin New York GrandCentral (formerly the Helmsley Hotel).
Ritz-Carlton Executive Chef Mark Arnao has taken over the hotel’s former BLT Market with a new restaurant
concept. 1 Bite Mediterranean will
bring its Turkish cuisine to a second
location, at 875 Third Avenue. Work
continues at the Willow Hotel, 120
West 57th Street.
Near HERALD SQUARE, musical
instrument legend Sam Ash is moving
one of its shops to 333 West 34th Street. Vince Camuto has come to 30 West
34th Street. Wait for 152 West 34th
Street to become a giant, multi-level Crocs.
In CHELSEA/MEATPACKING, Patagonia has taken a two-level space at 414 West
14th Street. Urban Space opened an
outdoor dining and retail project at
Washington and West 13th Streets on
September 1. Owen brings emerging
designers to 809 Washington Street. Christian Louboutin’s men’s boutique
has arrived at 808-810 Washington St.
Look for Hanro of Switzerland at the
same address. ABC Cocina will replace
Pipa at ABC Carpet & Home in October. Nearby in Union Square, Sephora unveiled its new renovation.
In GREENWICH VILLAGE, Patagonia is coming to 313 Bowery. Belgian
sportswear maker Sarah Pacini is opening its first U.S. boutique
at 350 Bleecker Street. Look for
Washington, DC-based cycling
studio Revolve at 52 East 13th Street. Agata & Valentina’s upscale groceries
are at 64 University Place. Designer
Kathy Kemp has relocated Anna to
330 East 11th Street.
Rent the Runway allows those
high on style but short on cash

Maison Martin Margiela has

In NOLITA/TRIBECA/LOWER EAST SIDE, Intermix is looking for a location on
Bowery in the spring. Joy Gryson’s accessories are coming to 106 Franklin
Street. Block Headwear relocated to
89 East Houston Street. Vintage can be
found at Portia & Manny, 151 Ludlow.
Look for colorful sneakers and more
at Superga’s first U.S. store, now open
at 78 Crosby Street. Christian Siriano debuted his boutique at 252 Elizabeth
Street. Reports are that IHOP will feed
the hungry at 257 Church Street. The Hummus Shop is opening at
101 Ludlow Street. Construction of
the Bowery Hotel at 185 - 191 Bowery
has progressed. The empty lot at 215
Chrystie Street will be a condo/hotel, The Chrystie Street Hotel.
